Program Manager, Data Center Migration
Job Overview
PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Program Manager, Data Center Migration at our Tysons, Virginia location. The primary purpose of the Program Manager, Data Center Migration, is to lead complex data center migration projects. In this critical role, the incumbent will oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale data center migration initiatives, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and alignment with organizational goals.

- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans for datacenter migration, including scope, timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams comprising IT Infrastructure, Security, Application, and business stakeholders.
- Oversee vendor management and third-party service providers to ensure alignment with migration objectives and contractual commitments.
- Lead project status meetings, provide clear communication and regular updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.
- Identify potential risks and develop proactive solutions to address technical, operational, and business continuity challenges.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, security, and data privacy requirements throughout the migration process.
- Document lessons learned and contributed to continuous improvement in project management methodologies.
- Provide program leadership and drive all aspects of the datacenter migration.
- Monitor component project schedules, performance, quality, and budget using appropriate tools and techniques, then define and monitor corrective actions as needed.
- Lead project estimation activities and provide input into budget discussions.
- Collaborate with executives and senior management to create, prioritize, and define key strategic and tactical initiatives.
- Possess and convey high level of knowledge of project management professional practice codes, methodologies, and knowledge sources to help grow PM capabilities in the organization.
- Monitor and enforce process and methodology standards.
- Mentor team members and other stakeholders as needed.
- Other necessary duties as assigned to deliver project scope and improve the overall success of delivery across the organization.
Qualifications
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- 10+ years of program or project management experience in an IT environment, with at least 3 years focused on datacenter migration or similar large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of cloud and on-premises datacenter architectures, networking, and application dependencies.
- Excellent understanding of project management, including methodologies and best practices in agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Experience leading agile teams and agile transformation initiatives.
- Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.
- Expertise in project and program financials.
- Demonstrated experience successfully delivering large projects, leading teams, and interacting with the highest levels of executive leadership.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Prior experience in influencing, motivating, and mobilizing mid to large teams and business partners.
- Passion for leading teams and implementing change.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position will not supervise employees.
