Recruitment Fraud

What is recruitment fraud?

Recruitment fraud is a growing trend where fraudsters have been known to attempt to use our name to trick job seekers with fake employment opportunities. This type of scam is typically carried out through fake job postings, fake websites, or email accounts claiming to be from PenFed Credit Union. The intent of recruitment fraud is to gain access to your personal information, such as your banking information, credit card number, or social security number.

Please be aware that our official careers site is careers.penfed.org and our corporate site is penfed.org.

During the PenFed Credit Union hiring process, we will never:

  • Request that you apply for a position through a non-PenFed website or platform.

  • Request your Social Security number or other personal financial information before you have accepted an official offer.
  • Communicate with you from personal or “free-mail” email accounts (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook).
  • Extend a job offer without a formal interview process.

If you are contacted by someone claiming to represent PenFed Credit Union and are uncertain of their legitimacy, please contact our team immediately at careers@penfed.org.

If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, please report it to reportfraud.ftc.gov and notify your local law enforcement’s non-emergency line.
