Job Overview

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Engineer II, Digital Member Experience (DMX) at our Tysons, Virginia location.  The primary purpose of this job is to guide other application developers and lead in the creation of large or complex applications that facilitate the achievement of a positive digital member experience.

  • Design, develop, and enhance Salesforce Financial Services Cloud solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow, and declarative tools to support business initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Salesforce FSC data models, including household, person accounts, financial accounts, interactions, and life events.
  • Contribute technical expertise to requirements analysis, solution design, and architectural decisions to ensure alignment with Salesforce best practices.
  • Configure and extend FSC features such as Actionable Segmentation, Relationship Maps, Interaction Summaries, and Business Rules Engine.
  • Perform unit testing, system testing, and support UAT to ensure high-quality, low-risk deployments.
  • Participate in release planning, CI/CD pipelines, and post-release support activities to ensure stable production operations.
  • Provide Level 2/3 application support and troubleshooting to minimize the impact of Salesforce-related incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards, Salesforce security model (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules), and data governance requirements.
  • Produce technical documentation including solution designs, integration mappings, and configuration artifacts.
  • Balance multiple work streams and priorities while meeting delivery timelines and quality expectations.
  • Act as a technical consultant and mentor to junior developers and configuration specialists.
  • Follow company and departmental change control, release management, and operational procedures for all Salesforce changes.

Key Relationships

  • Manager: Escalate issues, provide status updates, and receive guidance and direction.
  • Development & Delivery Team: Collaborate with developers, QA, architects, and DevOps teams; provide technical guidance and peer reviews.
  • Business Stakeholders & Product Owners: Partner to understand business needs and deliver Salesforce FSC solutions that support strategic objectives.
  • Vendors/Third Parties: Coordinate on integrations, managed packages, and platform capabilities.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Applications Development / IT Delivery Pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in application development and IT delivery.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on Salesforce development experience.
  • Knowledge of the major peripheral systems that work in conjunction with assigned applications.
  • Experience delivering Salesforce solutions in financial services domains such as banking, lending, deposits, or wealth management.
  • Experience with Salesforce Apex, Lightning Web Components.
  • Experience with Salesforce Flows and declarative automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5)+ years of overall IT experience.

  • Strong proficiency in:

  • Salesforce Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura, SOQL/SOSL

  • Salesforce Flows and declarative automation

  • Experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud data model and features.

  • Integration experience using REST/SOAP APIs, OAuth, and middleware tools.

  • CI/CD experience using Git-based repositories and Salesforce DevOps tools.

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and enterprise integration patterns.

  • Experience supporting high-availability, high-transaction-volume applications.

  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery methodologies.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise employees.

 

Licenses and Certifications

AWS, AZURE, Google Certified preferred.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*

 

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call is required.
