Digital Product Owner - Auto Lending

PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Digital Product Owner - Auto Lending at our Tysons, Virginia location. The Digital Product Owner – Auto Lending leads the end-to-end product lifecycle for the auto loan digital acquisition and ownership experiences. This role partners closely with the Autos Product Strategy, Technology, and Operations and Member Experience teams to define and execute a roadmap that drives loan growth, improves digital engagement, and delivers exceptional member value. The ideal candidate combines business acumen, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of user experience within an Agile environment.

  • Own the digital auto loan acquisition journey, serving as subject matter expert on application flow, member experience, and performance.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to define and track key product metrics (KPIs) tied to growth, conversion, and satisfaction.
  • Translate business objectives into clear, actionable requirements and acceptance criteria for new features and enhancements.
  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog; work with the Agile team to plan sprints, refine stories, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate business needs, technical feasibility, and design optimization for new or enhanced digital capabilities.
  • Facilitate process mapping and gap analyses to assess impacts of proposed features or system changes.
  • Lead UAT planning and execution; validate releases and provide final product sign-off.
  • Communicate project timelines, risks, and operational impacts to all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Analyze production incidents and member feedback to identify root causes, define fixes, and inform continuous improvement.
  • Leverage Voice of Member insights, complaints, and operational data to enhance digital experiences and resolve member pain points.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external vendors to deliver on PenFed’s digital transformation objectives.
  • Support ad hoc requests, process improvement initiatives, and strategic projects as assigned by the Consumer Banking leadership team.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in product management or digital product ownership, preferably in financial services, fintech, or digital lending.
  • Experience in automotive lending or consumer loan origination preferred.
  • Experience with Salesforce Financial Services Cloud or other Salesforce products preferred.
  • Proven experience defining and delivering digital roadmaps in an Agile or SAFe environment.
  • Experience working with technology teams on APIs, integrations, and digital customer journeys.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate member and business needs into digital solutions that improve conversion, efficiency, or satisfaction.
  • Experience leveraging analytics tools (e.g., Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI) to inform decisions.
  • Familiarity with UX/UI principles, customer journey mapping, and user testing practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to influence across teams.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and other Agile collaboration tools.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will not supervise staff.

 

Licenses and Certifications

Salesforce experience and/or certifications preferred.
 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

*Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*

 

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
