PenFed is hiring a (Hybrid) Manager, Portfolio Analytics Deposits at our Tysons, Virginia location.  As a Portfolio Analytics Manager- Deposits in the deposits team, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to help achieving PenFed’s strategic objectives. The role will be responsible for leading analytical strategy, customer insights, and portfolio performance management across all consumer deposit products. The role will focus on analyzing consumer deposits behavior, forecasting deposit balances, and growth optimization in line with enterprise objectives. This role will partner with Product, Finance, Pricing, Marketing, Digital, and Data teams, among other stakeholders to ensure the consumer deposit portfolio meets growth, and retention objectives while delivering strong member value. The Manager will partner with various stakeholders to develop and test strategies to optimize Deposits product that will ultimately impact the bottom line.

  • Lead analytics for all consumer deposit portfolios.
  • Constantly look for improvements in tools, data sources, and analytic techniques to improve various aspects of portfolio analytics and business needs.
  • Monitor KPIs like balance trends, inflows/outflows, member churns, household penetration, product migration.
  • Build and maintain daily/weekly/monthly deposit product dashboards for the product team and Consumer Banking leadership with insights using SQL and BI tools such as Tableau, or Power BI etc.
  • Identify underlying behavioral and demographic drivers of growth, attrition, and retention.
  • Analyze consumer account acquisition, activation, engagement, and relationship depth.
  • Create and define measurement plans including core KPIs and frameworks.
  • Lead and/or provide support in analyzing new initiatives and products being launched.
  • Enhancing existing reports based on based on new requirements, changes, or advancements in technology.
  • Understand root causes of changes in metrics and communicate insights vs goals.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to deposits and consumer banking leadership to influence product and growth strategy.
  • Build reusable deposit forecasting, and segmentation models for Consumer Banking.
  • Creatively introduce new methodologies that increase automation and efficiency.
  • Make data-driven recommendations to cross-department partners such as Marketing, Brand and Digital that align with relevant business objectives and goals.
  • Oversee development of strategies to refine and define product structures and benefits to enhance deposit offerings based on market research and member needs.
  • Manage and direct analysts to leverage analytics to build financial models to develop monthly and annual balance forecast and assess the impact of pricing decisions on deposit balances.
  • Support A/B testing and optimization initiatives to enhance acquisition and experience on PenFed digital properties.
  • Collaborate with managers and directors on the preparation of weekly and monthly business reviews with expectation to own a part of the presentation.
  • Produce ready-ready analyses and recommendations on product strategies across Deposit products.
  • Should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.
  • Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Contribute to team knowledge by researching and sharing info on the industry, competitors, and solutions.
  • Guide and mentor business analysts, reporting analysts and support staff, fostering a culture of team, collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Support a technology governance plan for proper usage of all analytical tools to ensure compliance with all data and company policies and procedures.
  • Stay on top of all digital innovations, including AI, machine learning, tableau usage and cultivate an atmosphere of learning new technologies.

Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or related field is required.
  • Master’s degree in science or business preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in business, strategic or data analytics role.
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to use data to tell the portfolio performance story for any type of deposit product initiative and present it in a visual, clear manner.
  • Experience tracking key performance indicators.
  • Experience in creating and analyzing Consumer Deposit strategies.
  • Experience with deposit products and tools, intelligence platforms, and core banking systems.
  • Knowledge of Data Visualization best practices, experience using data visualization software like Tableau and Excel.
  • Experience with database and data warehouse structure including SQL queries is required.
  • Experience with other data mining tools (Python, R, etc.) is preferred.
  • Skilled in data manipulation and reporting in excel (VLOOKUPs, if statements, pivot tables, pivot charts).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey complex ideas in an understandable way.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence processes and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to accomplish a task with knowledge of the end goal but with little direction on how to achieve it (self-directed, creative problem solver).

This position will supervise employees.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

Travel

Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
